Focusing on Quality is about building a culture of quality within the organization – instilling the importance of quality into the daily lives of all those individuals involved in the supply of your products to your customers. It is also about taking concrete steps to ensure that quality is continuously maintained and processes continuously improved by simplifying the product design and by reducing complexity, variation, mistakes, and errors.
A modern definition of quality derives from Juran's "fitness for the intended use." This definition basically says that quality is "meeting or exceeding customer expectations." Deming states that the customer's definition of quality is the only one that matters.
Culture is the shared beliefs, values, attitudes, institutions, and behavior that characterizes the members of a community or organization. In healthy business culture, those cultural attributes that are good for the company integrate or come together with those of the customer to become the driving force behind what everyone does.
